Quite often when we are asked to service air conditioners, generators and electrical systems we find that mice have taken up residency and have wreaked havoc. When it comes to air conditioners, they are attracted to the warmth given off by the compressor sump heater and/or by the shelter an A/C cover provides. Turning the electricity off to the A/C unit at the end of the season and avoiding the use of a cover will help deter mice from hunkering down in your A/C unit. Generators are also atrractive to nesting mice because the materials in the generator filters can be used to build nests. Keeping mice out of a generator is as easy as putting mesh housing around the filter and by using a special tape that is impregnated with capsaicin to seal up entry points.
